ARDS has constructed 40 Toilets for the needy poor people of Kalakad Block. The targeted communities have no access to good toilets. The people defecated just behind their houses, where by domestic animals such as dogs, ducks and fowls feed on this defecation and the same time drink in the same water. The provision of these latrines and hygiene education to all communities receiving this facility will reduce diarrhea related illness. The people are from vulnerable and downtrodden SC/BC communities. At this stage 40 families with 215 members have been benefited by the constructed toilets. The beneficiaries were given training on how to use the toilets and about the maintaining practices and the family members have stopped open defecation.
